Germany may stop producing a number of goods due to gas shortages this winter. This was stated by the representative of the German Association of the chemical industry Jörg Rothermel.

“Now there is a danger that we in Germany will no longer be able to produce certain things, because there will simply be no gas or energy prices will be so high that it will not be profitable,” Rothermel said.

According to him, with a possible shortage of gas, companies have clear recommendations for switching to other types of fuel, in particular oil and coal. However, in the chemical industry, no more than 3% of gas consumption can be replaced in this way.

According to the CEO of the country’s largest ammonia producer and fertilizer supplier SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz Petr Tsingr, if Russia suddenly stops gas supplies, the organization will simply be forced to stop production.
