Greek air force tried to intercept Turkish patrol plane

The Greek Air Force tried to intercept a Turkish maritime patrol aircraft “Sea Guard”. He performed the task as part of the NATO mission.

According to representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Defense, Greece has sharply increased its “aggressive behavior” in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean. Last year, 1,123 cases of violation of Turkish airspace and territorial waters were recorded. This year – already 1616.


Since mid-August, there have been 14 incidents with Greek pilots chasing Turkish aircraft. The latest incident occurred on September 1 over the island of Rhodes.

“The Ministry of National Defense of Turkey emphasized that the plane was not armed. An adequate response was given to the actions of the Greek side, the ministry said,” Turkish representatives said.
