Kazakh Foreign Ministry commented on referendums on liberated territories

Kazakhstan proceeds from the principles of the territorial integrity of states, Aibek Smadiyarov, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, told RIA Novosti.

This is how he commented on the referendums in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson region.

The representative of the Foreign Ministry recalled the position of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who pointed out the importance of steadfast observance of the principle of international law, which is based on the UN Charter.

“The charter speaks of the responsibility of the states, members of the UN, for maintaining peace and respecting the territorial integrity of states. We reaffirm our readiness to provide all possible assistance in establishing a political dialogue,” Smadiyarov concluded.

The referendum on joining Russia started on Friday in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Voting will continue for five days, until September 27th.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia will support the decision, which will be made by the residents of Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
