Rubio said that he had discussed relations between Russia and the United States at a meeting with Lavrov

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Thursday that during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, they discussed issues of relations between the two countries, as well as the conflict in Ukraine.

Lavrov and Rubio held a meeting in Manila on Thursday morning. Lavrov confirmed Russia’s readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, and also pointed out the inadmissibility of further pumping up the Kiev regime with weapons. The parties agreed to continue contacts between the foreign ministries, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“I met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit. We discussed Russian-American relations and the need to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” Rubio wrote on the social network X.
