The Japanese Defense Ministry did not rule out the possibility of China conducting a landing operation in Taiwan

The Japanese Ministry of Defense has not ruled out the possibility of a full-scale Chinese landing operation in Taiwan. This is stated in the annual white paper published by the department on Friday.

“It is impossible to deny the possibility of China conducting a complex amphibious operation using electronic warfare and cyber attacks. Therefore, the level of threat to Taiwan is assessed as extremely high,” the document says.

The Japanese Defense Ministry stressed that on the issue of the military power of China and Taiwan, the center of gravity has shifted towards Beijing. “And every year this gap only increases,” the authors of the report believe.

The document emphasized that the stability of the situation around Taiwan plays an important role in ensuring the security of Japan itself.

Tokyo accuses Beijing of non-transparent military preparations, attempts to take control of sea routes in the region, and escalation in the area near Taiwan. China, for its part, sees in the policy of the United States and Japan interference in their affairs, attempts to unleash an arms race and escalate tensions in the region.
