The Moldovan government requires the development of energy saving measures.

The Commission for Emergency Situations of the Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova demands that local authorities approve a plan of measures to reduce electricity consumption within five days, the press service of the government of the republic reported.

Since February 24, a state of emergency has been in effect in Moldova, including due to the energy crisis. At this time, the Commission for Emergency Situations receives the right of priority decision-making.

“Commissions for emergency situations of local public administration bodies within five days will adopt a plan of measures applicable at the territorial level, which will help reduce energy consumption,” the message published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers says.

The list of measures will be published on the official website of the district/municipal councils and other available media. Until the 15th day of each month, reports on monitoring measures to reduce energy consumption will be published.

“Electricity consumption should be further reduced at the central and local levels by turning off street lighting during the day, namely from 7.00 to 17.00,” the government said.

Moldova is experiencing an energy crisis due to rising energy prices. The authorities in Chisinau announced that they were looking for alternative sources and suppliers of energy, since the only source remained the Moldavskaya GRES, which sells energy at a price of $62.5 per MWh. The Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova has introduced an austerity regime in connection with the energy crisis, which involves a number of restrictions on electricity consumption.
