The number of indoor swimming pools in Britain will increase due to electricity prices

The UK is at risk of pool closures due to electricity prices and debt, said Jane Nickerson, chief executive of Swim England.

“As debt piles up post-pandemic and energy prices rise 100% to 150% since 2019, the number of indoor pools is likely to rise strongly,” Nickerson said.

She added that every basin in the country could be on the verge of closure.
Earlier it became known that the Library of the House of Commons of Great Britain released a report in which it reported a widespread increase in the cost of living in the United Kingdom since the beginning of 2021, including the situation in Ukraine. The report also predicted an increase in poverty in the country in 2023.

In addition, the German Industrial Union predicted a recession in the European Union in the event of interruptions in Russian gas supplies.
