A majority of Americans disapprove of Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip, a Gallup poll shows.

55% of respondents are against the war, which is accompanied by numerous casualties among Palestinian civilians, and 36% are in favor of a military operation.

In November, the month after the Palestinian attack on southern Israel, the Israeli response campaign in the Gaza Strip was approved by 50% of Gallup poll respondents and 45% disapproved.

Among US President Joe Biden’s Democratic base, support fell to 18% from 36% in November, while among Republicans, who are traditionally more pro-Israel, the figure fell to 64% from 71%.

The survey was conducted March 1-20 among 1,016 American adults. The authors estimated the error of the study at plus or minus four percentage points.
