Coast Guard tugs towed a tanker that had problems off the coast of Istanbul on Sunday night, a source at the Turkish Coast Guard General Directorate said.

“The 183-meter-long tanker SW Cap Ferrat 1, traveling from Italy… had an engine failure off the coast of Istanbul’s Fenerbahce district (in the Sea of ​​Marmara),” the source said.


The Panama-flagged tanker was safely towed to the Küçükçekmece pier in Istanbul.


The incident did not affect vessel traffic.
