Whether Biden is ready to call Russia a “sponsor of terrorism” remains in question

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre left unanswered the question, the US administration’s calls to recognize Russia as a “sponsor of terrorism”, Joe Biden himself.

“It requires the decision of the State Department on the appropriate definition according to special criteria. We are looking at this over time, along with a number of other proposals,” Jean-Pierre said.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said earlier that Washington is checking Russia’s actions in Ukraine for compliance with the criteria of a “state sponsor of terrorism.” At the same time, the US believes that Moscow “already bears all the costs” associated with this status. Blinken acknowledged that the inclusion of the Russian Federation in this list will change little for her in practical terms.
