Gaddafi’s son Saif al-Islam ‘freed’ in Libya

Muammar Gaddafi’s son was freed from the prison in Lybia, Saif al-Islam spent six years in jail in a mass trial of former Gaddafi government officials.

The 44-year-old son of former Libyan leader Gaddafi was captured in Zintan in November 2011. That time Saif al-Islam was trying to flee to neighbouring Niger after opposition fighters seized Tripoli.

Saif was the most prominent of Gaddafi’s eight children, in a mass trial of government officials under the former Lybian leader. His son Saif was wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity – that was the common accusations against Gaddafi family and his government.
