Imran Khan insists to avoid pricey hotels during Washington trip

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to the United States will start on July 21. During his official visit to Washington, Mr Khan will avoid the expensive hotels to reduce the cost of the trip.

Imran Khan’s three-day visit to Washington promises to be a very difficult event for the US Secret Service takes over the security of a visiting dignitary as soon as he or she lands in America. In addition, the capital administration has to ensure that the visit does not disrupt Washington’s traffic.

While staying at the Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan’s residence can considerably reduce the cost of Khan’s visit, neither the US Secret Service nor the city administration appeared “very receptive” to the idea due to security measures.

Traditionally, the US federal government works jointly with the city administration to guarantee the security for the high-ranking guests of the capital. Since the chosen residence is not large enough for all these meetings, Imran Khan will have to meet his guests at the Pakistan embassy, commuting through Washington’s busy traffic during rush hours.

To do so, his entourage will have to drive by most of these embassies as well as US Vice President Mike Pence’s official residence.
