Erdogan says Turkey still does not support Sweden and Finland’s membership in NATO

Ankara still does not agree with the entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

“Swedish television aired interviews with leaders of terrorist groups. After this, we cannot say “welcome to NATO”. The same applies to Finland,” Erdogan said.

Earlier it became known that Turkey requested written guarantees from Finland and Sweden to resolve the conflicts before these countries join NATO.

Ankara’s demands were made because of the support by Finland and Sweden of organizations recognized as terrorist in Turkey.

The Turkish presidential administration reported that Sweden supplied weapons to terrorists who carried out terrorist attacks on Turkish territory.

According to Erdogan, Turkey will continue to fight the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and its offshoots, despite the support they receive from the United States and Europe.
