Johnson wants to invite Zelensky to visit UK in October

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson plans to invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to make a state visit to the kingdom in October.

It is emphasized that the possibility of organizing a personal meeting between Zelensky and Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain is being considered. In addition, the Ukrainian president may attend the congress of the ruling Conservative Party, which will be held in Birmingham.

As noted, Johnson hopes to use Zelensky’s visit to boost his own rating, which has been steadily declining due to the Downing Street residence party scandal in the first waves of the coronavirus pandemic. This has already resulted in the defeat of the Conservatives in the by-election to the House of Commons (lower house) of the British Parliament in two constituencies in England. At the same time, it is not excluded that if the conflict in Ukraine continues, Zelensky will not leave the country.
