The agreement on the grain corridor, which will be signed in Istanbul, will allow the supply of at least 25 million tons of grain to the world food market. The first stage of the agreement assumes that ships with grain blocked in Ukrainian ports will be allowed to move. The interlocutor of the agency estimated that about 80 ships with grain on board were blocked in Ukrainian ports.

On July 13, representatives of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN discussed the possibility of creating a “grain corridor”. One of the conditions for the export of grain from Ukraine is an agreement on a ceasefire along the route of the ships. In addition, the Turkish navy will check ships arriving in Ukraine to prevent arms smuggling.

UN Secretary General António Guterres followed by calling the talks on the “grain issue” a ray of hope and a critical step forward. The organization hopes that the parties will come to an official agreement on grain exports next week.
