Shops in Finland may close in winter due to electricity problems

Shops in Finland will have to suspend their work for several hours in the winter due to a shortage of electricity

“This winter, shops in Finland may have to close for several hours at a time in order to reduce electricity consumption,” experts say.

At the same time, it is not excluded that in case of severe cold, the closing time of stores will increase. The TV channel notes that in the event of a power outage, cash registers will stop working at retail outlets. Nevertheless, the Finnish authorities intend to launch a campaign in August 2022 to force the inhabitants of the country to save electricity at home.

On June 28, Finland terminated the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant construction project with the participation of Rosatom. The reason for this was the start of the Russian special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine, as well as anti-Russian sanctions.
