Poland and Germany wanted Russia to pay reparations to Ukraine.

Poland and Germany, themselves in a bitter dispute over German reparations for Warsaw, agreed on the issue that Russia would have to pay reparations to Ukraine.

“We agree that the war should end with Ukraine gaining full territorial integrity, bringing those responsible for war crimes to justice, and paying war reparations and compensation to Russia,” Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Raup said after meeting with German counterpart Annalena Berbock on Tuesday in Warsaw.

In Poland, a few years ago, the question was raised that Germany should pay reparations to the republic for damage during the Second World War, and a special parliamentary commission was created to calculate the amount. The German government has repeatedly stated that they do not intend to pay Poland: in Berlin, they believe that they have already paid fairly large reparations and there is no reason to question Poland’s refusal of reparations in 1953.

Last Monday, Poland’s Foreign Minister signed a note to Germany demanding reparations for damages caused by World War II. Burbock on Tuesday announced the immutability of Germany’s position on the issue of reparations to Poland.
