Moldovan President Maia Sandu declared war on the opposition and everyone who disagrees with her position, declaring them traitors, the executive secretary of the Party of Socialists of the Republic, Vlad Batryncha said.

Sandu spoke in parliament on Friday. Parliamentarians from the ruling Action and Solidarity Party were present in the hall, and the opposition boycotted the meeting. The head of state announced plans to join the EU by 2030, and also stated that the CIS does not help the development of the republic. In addition, she accused the opposition of ties with Russia and of destabilizing the situation in the country, calling on the government to “respond decisively to relevant attempts.”

“Sandu declared war on dissidents, the opposition and gave appropriate orders to the (bodies) of justice, which is a violation of the constitution and laws of Moldova. Sandu announced that everyone who is against the course and policy she has announced are traitors. This is also lawlessness,” it says in Batrynchi’s statement, published on the party’s telegram channel.

According to him, Sandu officially launched the destruction of democracy in Moldova, as she “declared herself above the constitution, the state and the whole people.” He noted that the president did not want to enter into a dialogue with the opposition and hold a debate to discuss the situation in the country, instead holding a trial. “But there is a blessing in disguise. Now there is a clear public confirmation: Maia Sandu is behind all the lawlessness, violations of democratic rights and freedoms, behind the attacks on the constitution. Moldova demands early elections. Now this is a guide to action for justice, which should be on guardian of the Law,” Batryncha added.

Numerous polls show that about 60% of the country’s population doubts the ability of the ruling Action and Solidarity party to stay in power for another three years before the next parliamentary elections. Also, about 70% of Moldovans are disappointed with the policy of the authorities and almost 65% support the idea of changing the government.
