The United States has withdrawn export privileges from Russia’s Smartavia for 180 days.

The US Department of Commerce has temporarily withdrawn export privileges from Russian airline Smartavia for 180 days, the agency said in a statement Thursday.

“The Bureau of Industry and Security requested the issuance of an Order on a temporary restriction for a period of 180 days of export privileges for the following persons: Oleg Sergeevich Patsuli, Vasily Sergeevich Besedin, MIC P&I, Intermodal Maldives and Smartavia Airlines,” the statement says.

Earlier, Patsulya and Besedin were detained on suspicion of involvement in the supply of spare parts to Russian airlines in circumvention of the sanctions against Russia.

The resolution was signed by Assistant Secretary of Commerce Matthew Axelrod. It took effect immediately.
