Incumbent Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will win 53.7% of the vote in the second round of the presidential elections in Turkey, according to a poll by the Turkish Research Foundation, which was cited by the Hürriyet newspaper on Friday.

A total of more than 3,000 people in 26 provinces took part in the survey. Turkish citizens aged 18 years and older, eligible to vote and residing in Turkey were surveyed. The error is not specified.


According to the forecasts of this study, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be re-elected with 53.7% of the vote in the second round of presidential elections. It is estimated that in the second round there will be a vote shift of 1.75% in favor of Tayyip Erdogan and 1.25% in favor of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu from 5% of the votes given to ex-candidate Sinan Ogan in the first round, and the remaining swing voters will be distributed proportionally.


When respondents were asked why they voted for Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the first round, 41.2% answered: “Because I trust and believe in him”, 29.6% answered “For stability”, 24.8% answered “For execution promises” and 4.4% answered “For reactions to other parties”.

“When respondents were asked why they voted for Kemal Kılıçdaroglu in the first round, 55.9% answered: “For changes” – 25.9% – “Because I trust and believe in him”, 11.9% – “For his promises and program” and 6.3% – “In response to the actions of the opposition.”

Incumbent Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan won 49.52% of the vote in the first round of the presidential elections, his rival from the seven opposition parties, Kemal Kılıçdaroglu – 44.88%. The second round of presidential elections is scheduled for May 28. To win, a candidate needs a simple majority of votes.
