Amy Schumer might appear an unlikely choice for the Barbie role, the American actress is lined up for the lead in Mattel’s debut film outing for its ambitiously-proportioned plastic bestseller.
Sony Pictures will set a new movie about Barbie, the famous doll from Mattel becomes the movie star. Amy Schumer, the comedian actress, will be play the leading role in the film. In 2014, Sony bought the rights from Mattel, the deal was extremely positive on the terms of income. It has so far generated some $3bn in sales from the 180-odd incarnations of Barbie and her friends.
Barbie doll has changed a lot, over the decades the changing shape and occupational status of the legendary blonde generated much debate. The film with Amy Schumer will be released in summer 2018, producers promises to make an interesting film, in which will be mixed an animation and live-action. That’s why vivid and jovial Schumer evicted from Barbieland for eccentricities.
Barbie film director has not yet been finalised, indeed. For Schumer it is even better, the actress will have enough time to finish the set in her three high-profile upcoming comedies: an untitled comedy from ’50/50′ director Jonathan Levine, ‘Jason Hall’s Thank You for Your Service,’ and a film that she has co-scripted with Jennifer Lawrence and in which they will both star.
