Germany stated that there are no decisions in the EU to stop issuing Schengen to Russians.

The representative of the German Foreign Ministry, Christopher Burger, said at a briefing that the European Union has not taken decisions to limit the issuance of Schengen visas to Russians.

“At the moment, there are no decisions at the EU level that would make it possible to cancel the issuance of Schengen visas to Russian citizens,” he said.

A week earlier, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu said he would propose to European countries to close the entry of Russian citizens “as a basic rule.” Pan-European restrictions are planned to be introduced due to the fact that, despite the lack of visas for Russians, they continue to arrive using Schengen documents.
