Germany’s partners questioned its decisiveness in the Ukrainian crisis.

A number of countries, especially Poland, Turkey and the United States, began to consider Germany a much less reliable partner than a year ago, due to its ambiguous position on issues that have arisen in connection with the conflict in Ukraine, follows from a study by the German Marshall Fund think tank.

“We attribute this to Germany’s indecisive stance towards the conflict in Ukraine,” study author Gezine Weber said.

When asked whether Germany is a reliable partner for their own country, just over half of Polish respondents answered yes, down 15% from last year, according to the study.

According to Weber, long-term support for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project and a “wait and see attitude” regarding the supply of weapons to Ukraine have undermined confidence, the newspaper writes.
