President Erdogan called on Sweden and Finland to address Turkey’s security concerns

Finland and Turkey must consider Turkey’s security concerns in order to join NATO. This call was made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

According to him, Ankara expects that Turkey, Sweden, Finland and NATO will come to concrete decisions at the upcoming four-party talks.

“For Finland and Sweden to join NATO, it is necessary to take into account Turkey’s security concerns. Based on the results of the quadripartite meeting, it will become clear what their position is,” Erdogan said.

Earlier, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde said talks aimed at overcoming Turkey’s objections to Sweden’s accession to NATO had made progress. The diplomat hoped that a breakthrough in negotiations with Ankara could be achieved at the NATO summit, which is being held in Madrid on June 28-30.
