The German Foreign Ministry said that the issue of reparations to Poland is closed

Germany considers the issue of reparations to Poland following the results of World War II closed.

The German ministry called Germany’s position on compensation to Poland unchanged.

“Poland refused further reparations a long time ago, in 1953, and repeatedly confirmed this refusal. This is the necessary basis for today’s European order,” the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

At the same time, he noted that Germany to this day bears the burden of political and historical responsibility for all the crimes of the Nazis during the Second World War.

Earlier, the head of the ruling Polish Law and Justice party, Yaroslav Kaczynski, said that the Polish authorities had decided to officially demand war reparations from Germany for the destruction and casualties incurred during the Second World War.
