The head of the Finnish Foreign Ministry said that it is difficult to make predictions about the timing of the country’s accession to NATO

Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said in an interview that it is difficult to make predictions about the timing of the country’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to him, some NATO countries, including Turkey, expressed certain doubts about the possibility of Finland and Sweden joining the North Atlantic Alliance.

He added that Finland and Sweden are trying to convince them of the benefits of admitting countries to the alliance.

“I thought that we could become members of the alliance in a shorter time frame, but it is difficult to make predictions now,” Haavisto said.

The minister expressed hope that Finland would be invited to the NATO summit in Madrid.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed the opinion that Finland and Sweden would be able to resolve differences with Turkey on NATO membership and quickly join the alliance.
