The speaker of the Iranian parliament, the head of the Iranian negotiating delegation, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said that the United States should be careful in its statements, and warned that the Iranian armed forces are ready to respond.
⠀
Earlier, the Iranian Tasnim news agency, citing a source in the Iranian negotiating team, reported that the Iranian delegation had abandoned the venue for talks with the United States in Switzerland in protest against the threats of American President Donald Trump. Hossein Korbanzadeh, a member of the Iranian negotiating team, stressed that negotiations with the United States will not continue until the hostilities in Lebanon cease.
⠀
“They (the United States) better be careful with their statements, our armed forces are ready to respond. No matter what they say, we will act,” Ghalibaf wrote on his social network page.
⠀
Technical talks between Iran and the United States with the participation of intermediary countries Pakistan and Qatar began in Burgenstock, Switzerland, on Sunday.
⠀
On the night of June 18, Iran and the United States remotely signed a memorandum that presupposes the end of the military conflict that began on February 28.
⠀
The memorandum also sets a timeline for when the United States will lift the naval blockade and Iran will restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
⠀
In addition, Iran undertakes not to obtain nuclear weapons, and the issue of the Iranian nuclear program should be settled by a separate agreement. The parties will hold negotiations on this issue within 60 days. For Tehran, the result should be the lifting of anti-Iranian sanctions.
