The explosion at the mosque occurred on Monday at about 13.40 during prayer. According to eyewitnesses, there were more than 100 people there, most of those gathered were representatives of the police, army and sappers. The explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber. As a result of the incident, part of the mosque and the roof of the building collapsed.


Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan was reported to have claimed responsibility for the blast. Later, according to Dawn, the group denied involvement in the attack, saying that their rules prohibit attacks on mosques and public places. However, according to the sources of the newspaper, some local units of the terrorist organization could be behind the explosion.
