The President of Iran arrived in Syria for the first time since the beginning of the conflict in the country.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived on Wednesday morning on an official visit to Syria, the first visit by an Iranian president to the country since the start of the conflict in the SAR in 2011.

At Damascus International Airport, Raisi was met by Syrian Minister of Economy Mohammed Samer al-Khalil.

The Syrian newspaper Al-Watan previously wrote that Raisi’s visit will last two days, within its framework official talks will be held between the presidents of Iran and Syria to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economic sphere.

According to the newspaper, during Raisi’s visit, a large number of agreements and memorandums of understanding in the economic sphere between Iran and Syria will be signed.
