Cambodia is ready to organize demining training for Russian sappers, the country does not have the ability and will not provide military assistance to Ukraine, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said.

“Cambodia has not provided any military support to Ukraine. Cambodia does not have the ability to do this. Cambodia’s technical assistance to Ukrainian sappers is a purely humanitarian action,” the prime minister stressed.

Hun Sen added that Cambodia is “glad to welcome any country that wants to be trained in demining in Cambodia, including Russia.” The Prime Minister also recalled that Cambodia has already conducted similar demining training for Colombian officers.

“Cambodia did not send troops or demining instructors to Ukraine, what we did was done purely for humanitarian reasons,” Hun Sen added.

Earlier, the Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) officially completed the training of Ukrainian sappers, technical support was provided by the Japanese government. In response to media criticism, the country’s authorities said they were opposed to listing Cambodia among Ukraine’s allies providing military support to it.
