The US Congress harms the negotiations with Yerevan, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov, who is on a visit to the United States, said on Monday that the unilateral resolutions of the US Congress are detrimental to the peace talks between Baku and Yerevan, the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.

“Deputy Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov, who is on a visit to the United States, at meetings with members of the US Senate, Senator Tom Coton, Senator Ben Cardin, members of the House of Representatives Jack Bergman, Chuck Fleischman, Mike Ezel and Robert Aderholt, said that unilateral resolutions of the US Congress damage peaceful the talks between Baku and Yerevan. Radical Armenian organizations operating in the United States, in connection with the establishment of the Lachin border checkpoint, provide members of Congress with unreliable and unfounded information,” the report says.

Earlier, the United States expressed deep concern over the fact that Baku had set up a checkpoint in the Lachin corridor. The State Department resolution stresses that Azerbaijan’s move undermines efforts to build confidence in the peace process.
