The European Commission issues for the status of an EU candidate

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the European Commission recommended granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for joining the European Union.

“The European Commission has recommended granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country for EU membership,” Leyen said.

⠀

The European Commission took the same position with respect to Moldova, while Georgia was advised not to grant the status of a candidate for EU membership for the time being.

The final decision will be made on June 23-24 at the summit in Brussels.
