Norwegian gas exports may fall due to workers’ strike

A widening strike by Norwegian oil and gas workers could lead to a reduction in gas exports by more than 50 percent, Norwegian Oil and Gas warned.

“Nearly 60 percent of gas exports from the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) will be affected if the strike is intensified from Saturday July 9. This will mean a loss of income of NOK 1.8 billion day.<…> Daily oil production of 341,000 barrels and gas exports of 1,117,000 barrels per day are lost, which corresponds to approximately 56 percent of the total gas exports from the Norwegian continental shelf, “the company said in a statement.

As the CEO of Norwegian Oil and Gas, Hildegunn Blindheim, recalled, Norway provides a quarter of energy consumption in Europe.
