The President of Poland promised not to take revenge on the Ukrainians for the Volyn massacre

The Poles will not take revenge on the Ukrainians for the Volyn massacre. This was stated by the President of Poland Andrzej Duda during the events dedicated to the anniversary of the Volyn massacre.

Duda specified that it was a difficult time for their nation when the Germans occupied Poland during World War II. The Volyn massacre took the lives of more than 100 thousand people. During this tragedy, the mass destruction of the Polish civilian population by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army took place.

“We emphasize with pain that this was done by the neighbors [Ukraine]. It was. They lived in the neighborhood, often connected by family ties. It is hard for us today to understand this and explain how this was even possible, what passions raged in our souls, so that people could prepare such a fate for people. This is a historical fact, indisputable, not a fiction or a story, not a legend in which there is only a grain of truth,” the President said.

At the same time, the President of Poland clarified that the Poles are not going to take revenge on the Ukrainians. “This is very important, and I want to emphasize this. It must be made clear that this is not about revenge, about some kind of response,” he said. But he urged both parties, Ukraine and Poland, to recognize the fact of that as events.
