Trudeau and Scholz signed a declaration of intent to create a hydrogen alliance between Germany and Canada

Canada and Germany have agreed to create an alliance to export hydrogen fuel to Germany by 2025.

The corresponding declaration was signed in Canada in the presence of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

According to Trudeau, Canada “can become a reliable supplier of [this type of] energy.” He recalled that Western countries should abandon fossil energy sources, including Russian ones, in favor of alternative fuels.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Economy Minister Robert Habeck arrived in Canada on Monday, August 22, for a three-day visit to find an alternative to gas from Russia.

Sergei Kolobanov, Deputy Head of the Economics of Fuel and Energy Sectors of the Central Strategic Research Center, believes that Europe will definitely be able to stop buying Russian gas by 2040, stressing that if efforts are made, this can be achieved by 2025.
