North Korea fired three short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan on Thursday evening, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

Earlier it was reported that they spotted the launch of one ballistic missile.

“Our military on Thursday, November 3, approximately from 21.35 to 21.49 detected the launch (DPRK) of three short-range ballistic missiles were fired from the Koksan district of Hwanghae-bukto province towards the Sea of Japan,” the committee said in a statement.

The South Korean and US military remain on full alert and have stepped up surveillance of North Korea.

North Korea on Wednesday fired 23 different types of missiles towards the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan in four stages, and also fired 100 artillery shots in the buffer zone near the border with South Korea in the Sea of Japan. On Thursday morning, South Korea detected the launch of two short-range ballistic missiles by the DPRK towards the Sea of Japan and one intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), presumably Hwaseong-17.

It is the 30th day this year that North Korea has conducted a ballistic missile test, and Pyongyang has also fired three cruise missiles.
