Finland is looking for opportunities for the urgent supply of power equipment for Ukraine.

Finnish Economy Minister Mika Lintilä held talks with representatives of Finnish companies on the urgent supply of energy equipment for Ukraine, the ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

“Minister Lintilä discussed with representatives of the energy and technology industry and officials of the ministry the possibilities of providing assistance. The goal is to jointly find ways to provide quick concrete assistance to Ukraine on a coordinated basis,” the message says.

The Finnish ministry elaborates that, according to Ukraine, Russian missile and drone strikes destroyed more than 50% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure during October and November.

“Last night, Ukraine also sent Finland an urgent request for energy assistance. A variety of equipment, including generators, transformers and batteries, is needed for both industrial and domestic needs,” the Finnish ministry said.

In the past, Finland has already provided energy-related material assistance, including from companies and through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. “However, in the run-up to winter, Russia has intensified its brutal attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and the need for assistance is urgent,” the ministry said.
