Ukraine sharply increased fuel purchases abroad in December.

Imports of fuel to Ukraine in December compared to November increased by 30%, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak said.

“In December, the import of fuel (gasoline and diesel) to Ukraine increased significantly. By about 30% (more) than it was in previous months,” Zheleznyak wrote on his Telegram channel.

Earlier, the chairman of the All-Ukrainian Energy Assembly and former Minister of Fuel and Energy Ivan Plachkov called the situation in the country’s energy system critical.

According to Ukrenergo, a significant shortage of power remains, which is why emergency, emergency and planned shutdown schedules are applied in the regions.

Due to the situation with power supply in Ukraine, they began to massively purchase generators. In mid-December, the Ukrainian media reported on shortages of gasoline at gas stations in Kyiv and a number of regions of the country. According to them, at least 5% of the fuel sold is used to refuel generators.
