The Russians took the first place among foreigners in terms of the number of residence permits received in Turkey in 2022, according to data from the Turkish Migration Agency.

The total number of foreigners in Turkey with a residence permit in 2022 amounted to more than 1 million 354 thousand people, follows from the statistics.

More than 153 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation received a residence permit in Turkey, in second place after them – 131 thousand citizens of Iraq and more than 100 thousand Syrians. There are more than 47,000 immigrants from Ukraine who have received a residence permit. At the same time, according to the tourist residence permit, issued for a short period of up to a year, more than 132 thousand Russians are in Turkey, follows from the data of the department.
Azerbaijan is the leader in the number of residence permits issued on the basis of family ties or study in the country.

The maximum number of foreigners is registered in Istanbul – more than 706 thousand people, as well as in Antalya – more than 158 thousand.

At the same time, the total number of legally residing foreigners in Turkey increased slightly compared to 2021 – by 40,000 people.
