China vowed to continue backing of Venezuela, saying the only way to settle the political issue is peaceful measures, CGTN reported on Thursday.
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomed on Thursday his Venezuelan counterpart Jorge Arreaza in Beijing. Mr Arreaza is the first foreign minister to visit China in 2020, and Mr Wang reiterated China’s support for the Latin American country.
Areeaza’s trip shows close ties and friendship between Beijing and Caracas, said the top Chinese diplomat, saying that the past year was a challenging year for Venezuela as well as the whole world.
Venezuela faces maximum pressure policy like the sanctions, which will never help resolve the crisis in the Latin American country.
“China will always stand for peaceful settlements of problems through dialogue and consultations. We believe that the people of Venezuela and its government are capable of addressing the problems on their own,” Wang said.
China will support Venezuela
While Mr Arreaza positively evaluated bilateral relations and appreciated China’s support and assistance, his Chinese counterpart said his country will continue to protect Venezuelan core interests.
China supports Venezuela in safeguarding its national sovereignty and independence, national dignity, social stability and economic development.
According to Mr Arreaza, Venezuela highly values its relations with China. The two counties are working towards pushing forward China-Venezuela comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.
