Netanyahu told Trump that he would continue the operation in Lebanon

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced to the head of the White House, Donald Trump, that he would continue the operation in Lebanon, despite the plans of the United States and Iran to resolve the conflict,  Ynet writes.

“Netanyahu told <…> Trump that Israel would not withdraw troops from Lebanon and that he did not consider himself bound by the Lebanese clause in the agreement with Iran,” the newspaper reported, citing Israeli sources.

According to the portal, the prime minister made it clear that the IDF would not abandon its positions in the neighboring country and would continue to fight Hezbollah.

Defense Minister Yisrael Katz soon clarified that the Israeli army would not compromise and would retain control over buffer zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza.

On Monday night, the United States and Iran announced the completion of work on a memorandum of understanding. The deal is scheduled to be signed on June 19. The document implies the end of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

At the same time, Israel continues to launch attacks on the neighboring country, despite the ceasefire agreements and negotiations with Beirut mediated by Washington. On Sunday, the IDF attacked the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital. The strikes hit two apartments in an apartment building.
