The ban on fishing from the Kuriles for Japan caused a number of comments

Deputy Prime Minister, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far East Yuri Trutnev said that the Russian authorities would deprive Japan of the opportunity to fish in the Kuriles because of the refusal to pay for quotas.

“They refused to pay for fishing quotas from the Kuril Islands, and accordingly, this right will be taken away from them. Therefore, they punish themselves well, they don’t even need help,” says Trutnev.

Trutnev says that it makes no sense to limit the export of Russian fish to Japan.

“We have already, in fact, limited them, and limited them by their efforts,” Trutnev said.
