The British Navy will spend 200,000 pounds to redesign women’s uniforms

The British Navy has been criticized for plans to spend up to 200,000 pounds (about 270 thousand dollars) from taxpayers’ funds on redesigning women’s uniforms due to the fact that the buttons on the chest are “inappropriately” located on the existing uniform, the Times newspaper reports, citing an internal document.

“The Royal Navy plans to spend up to 200,000 pounds on a new uniform for female sailors, as it is believed that with the current design, “the buttons are misplaced,” the newspaper writes.

It is noted that the problem with the buttons arose after the department noticed that the buttons were located in the same place as the nipples, and called it inappropriate.

According to the newspaper, this decision caused criticism among employees against the background of the fact that British military leaders had previously been asked to find funds to save due to a deficit in defense spending of 28 billion pounds over the next four years.

“It is absolutely absurd that the Royal Navy spends money on such a minor shape change,” a Navy source told the publication, adding that the location of the buttons “has always caused ridicule in the army.”
