The United States has deployed a new anti-ship system in Okinawa

The US Marine Corps has deployed a new NMESIS anti-ship missile system and the MADIS air defense system in Okinawa, Japan, designed, in particular, to counter drones, the Nikkei newspaper reported.

According to the newspaper, the deployment is aimed at strengthening the US capabilities to destroy ships and air defense, taking into account possible operations on remote islands.

NMESIS is a remotely operated unmanned wheeled platform with surface-to-ship anti-ship missiles.

MADIS is designed to counter drones and low-flying aerial targets. Both systems are highly mobile and can be deployed quickly on islands.

It is noted that the systems will be used by the 12th Coastal Regiment of the US Marine Corps in Okinawa.
