China, Luxembourg to enhance parliamentary cooperation

China, Luxembourg to enhance parliamentary cooperation

China and Luxembourg continue to adhere to mutual respect, equality and win-win cooperation, China’s top legislator Li Zhanshu said after talks with Luxembourg’s President of the Chamber of Deputies Fernand Etgen.

The two leaders had a video link on Wednesday, during which the two officials pledged to enhance exchanges between their legislative bodies. Li added that Luxembourg remains a friendly and cooperative partner of China in Europe while the two nations are maintaining sound and steady development.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Luxembourg have supported each other and stood together, Xinhua reports. Next year, the two nations will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

China seeks to promote economic recovery through openness and cooperation, maintain communication and address global challenges to push bilateral relations to a new level. At the same time, the European Union is an important force in the world, Li assured.

Etgen expressed the hope that bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, finance, equipment manufacturing and other fields will be strengthened. Luxembourg’s Chamber of Deputies is willing to deepen exchanges with China.
