Congressman Pittenger: Charlotte protesters ‘hate white people because white people are successful’

Senator Pittenger and his commentary on Charlotte protesters caused a loud resonance. Statement of Senator from North Carolina found both his supporters and opponents. U.S. Rep. Rober Pittenger said, that Charlotte protesters ‘hate white people because white people are successful’

A 68-year-old senator Pittenger expressed his own opinion on the events in Charlotte, and it was really rude. The Charlotte protests caused by the killings of unarmed black American Keith Lamont Scott. After that, a black community of city poured onto the streets to protest against the fatal shootings, which too often end with the death of African American people.

The U.S. Rep. Robert Pittenger is a white American male, but he says he understands the motivations of young, African American protesters better than they do. When BBC Newsnight asked for comment on Charlotte, the lawmaker said:

“The grievance in their minds – the animus, the anger – they hate white people, because white people are successful and they’re not.”

Such an opinion the Senator explained in economic terms: “It is a welfare state. We have spent trillions of dollars on welfare, and we’ve put people in bondage, so they can’t be all that they’re capable of being.” His colleagues were shocked with these words, North Carolina Democratic Party Executive Director Kimberly Reynolds said that these comments are inexcusable, other Republicans believe that:

“Congressman Pittenger must apologize, and Gov. McCrory and every Republican leader in this state should denounce this hateful rhetoric immediately.”
