G20 summit: Obama says Britain was wrong to vote for Brexit

Barack Obama participates in the G20 Summit, and during the joint press conference with Theresa May, he warned that Britain was wrong to vote for Brexit. The US President added while he does not want to “punish” Britain there is a risk that the trading relationship could “unravel”.

Barack Obama on his statement during the G20 Summit said he believes Britain was wrong to vote to leave the EU. This choice of the Britons moved the country at the “back of the queue” for a new trade deal.

The US President remind that he “continues to believe” that the World would be more prosperous if Britain remained a member of the EU. In the frame of the joint press conference with PM Theresa May, Obama said that British PM and he will consult closely to develop further trade and commercial relationships. Barack Obama added:

“We are going to make sure that the consequences of the decision don’t unravel those very strong relations.”
