Gas reserves in Europe’s underground storage facilities have reached 35 per cent

The occupancy rate of underground gas storage facilities (UGS) in Europe reached 35.05% as of May 10, they contain approximately 35 billion cubic meters of gas, according to data from the Association of European Gas Infrastructure Operators (GIE). 


This is 29.1 percentage points less than a year ago, and 12.4 percentage points lower than the average level for this date over the past five years.


The occupancy of gas storage facilities fell below this level only in the period of 2021. At that time, this figure was 31.36%.


Gas injection into storage facilities by EU countries during the gas day from May 9 to May 10 amounted to 0.3%. Denmark, the Czech Republic and France are pumping the most.
