The training of military units for the combat use of nuclear weapons, which began in Belarus, is planned and is not directed against third countries, the press service of the republic’s Defense Ministry said on Monday.

Earlier on Monday, the press service reported that in order to increase the readiness of the armed forces for the use of modern weapons, including special ammunition, training of military units for the combat use of nuclear weapons and nuclear support began in Belarus. In particular, during the training, the military, in cooperation with the Russian side, will work out the issues of delivering nuclear weapons and preparing them for use.

“The training is a planned training event within the framework of the Union State, it is not directed against third countries and does not pose security threats in the region,” the press service said in a statement posted on the Telegram channel of the ministry.

The report emphasizes that the main feature of this event will be the verification of readiness to perform combat missions from unprepared areas throughout the territory of Belarus.

“The main focus will be on working out issues of stealth, moving over significant distances, and conducting calculations for the use of forces and means,” the Ministry of Defense of Belarus added.
