The representative of Switzerland assumed the post of Director General of the OPCW

Swiss representative Sabrina Dalafior has assumed the post of Director General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the organization said in a statement.

“Sabrina Dalafior assumed the post of Director General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) today, becoming the fifth director general of the organization and the first woman to head the OPCW since its inception,” the statement said.

Among the key priorities of the new Director General of the OPCW are the protection of the global ban on chemical weapons, strengthening control over compliance with the Chemical Weapons Convention, supporting countries, including Syria, in its implementation, as well as developing cooperation with states and the chemical industry.

In November last year, Dalafior was appointed Director General of the OPCW for a four-year term, from July 2026 to July 2030.
